Eden Garden is a unique garden situated on the eastern slopes of Mt. Eden. It is a wonderfully peaceful sanctuary- five and a half acres of splendid garden just minutes from downtown Auckland.
Eden Garden features a splendid array of plants, mature trees, flowering shrubs and perennials, offering a new experience on every visit. We are particularly proud of our large collection of Vireya Rhododendrons which flower throughout the year.
Plant Collections - Vireyas, Camellias, Rhododendrons, Hibiscus, Hostas, Hydrangeas, Japanese Maples, Magnolias, Bromeliads, Succulents, Roses and Perennials
NZ Natives - Giant Nikau palms, Kauri, Rimu, Totara and ferns

Getting here couldn't be simpler. The beckoning calm of the front gate is just a fifteen minute walk from the hustle and bustle of Newmarket's shopping area. We are a 12minute walk up from the Manakau Road with many bus stops.
The 'Auckland Hop on Hop Off Explorer' bus makes regular stops at the Garden. Call them at freephone 0800 4 EXPLORER.
Other bus routes that are close to us, starting from the ferry terminal are the 321, and 295.

We are a few minutes drive from the Gillies Avenue exit on the Southern Motorway and we have our own carpark for 60 cars.
Although we are on Mount Eden it is not possible to access Mount Maungawhau from the Garden.

The central area is mostly flat for easy walking and wheelchair access. Elsewhere, particularly on the edge of the old quarry, some paths are steep and rocky and suitable footwear should be worn.
Umbrellas and wheelchairs are available to borrow from the Visitor Centre.
There are many benches to rest upon and gazebos and shelters to sit in further up the hill.
Our lovely café offers a selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks and wholesome lunches.
